Another effort is underway to establish a new city flag for Evansville. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, this time it’s led by middle school students:
Four students from Perry Heights Middle School are spearheading the Evansville Flag Competition.
On the event’s website, the students say the all-ages competition celebrates the city’s 21 decades.
Residents can submit up to four flag designs through June 14th.
The submissions will be posted online and a group of community ambassadors will narrow the choices to the 21 most popular flag designs.
Those designers will meet with an art panel for feedback, and the public will vote for the winner.
More information, submission forms, and tips for interested designers can be found at evansvilleflagcompetition.com
An earlier effort to choose a new Evansville flag was dropped in 2021, when city officials didn’t support any of the finalists.
