Several utility poles were damaged following the storm that blew through the area Friday early afternoon — which were then repaired. CenterPoint Energy reported more than 18,000 without power due to high winds.

The NWS determined several small tornadoes hit the area last Friday

Repairs and clean-up continue after last week’s tornadoes in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service recorded an EF-1 tornado in Vanderburgh County on Friday that blew the roof off St. Joseph Catholic Church on St. Joe Road.

No one was injured and the parish hopes to replace the roof soon.

An EF-0 twister was recorded near Darmstadt. It brought down tree limbs and caused minor damage to homes along Darmstadt and Old Princeton roads.

Another EF-1 tornado hit near Dale, taking the roof of a barn, overturning a semi-trailer on I-64, bringing down trees, and damaging a few homes.

EF-1 twisters were also detected in Sturgis, Smith Mills, and far western Union County in Kentucky. No injuries were reported in that area.

The storms hit more than a week before Severe Weather Awareness Week in Indiana.
