Steve Burger

Crews battled high winds at Trockman and Sons, off S. Kentucky Ave.

Firefighters have extinguished a blaze at an Evansville scrapyard. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Crews were dispatched to Trockman and Sons on Bayse St., near S. Kentucky Ave., shortly before noon Wednesday.

They found appliances and at least a couple of vehicles on fire.

Firefighters battled both flames and high winds. The National Weather Service recorded wind gusts above 40 miles an hour as crews arrived on scene.

Smoke from the fire was visible from the Veterans Memorial Parkway and Highway 41.

There was no word of any injuries.

Crews were on the scene for more than two hours.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
