Terry to Run for Evansville Mayor

Facebook

The County Councilwoman would be the city's first woman and person of color in the mayor's office

Local Democrats have announced a candidate for Evansville mayor. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Democratic Party says Vanderburgh County Council member Stephanie Terry will file for the mayor’s seat Monday afternoon.

Terry is also the executive director of the Children’s Museum of Evansville.

Four Republicans have already filed: Vanderburgh County Commissioner Cheryl Musgrave, financial advisor Natalie Rascher (RAY-sher), conservative activist Gabe Whitley, and department store worker Caine Helmer.

Barring a surprise win by Whitley or Helmer, it appears Evansville’s next mayor will be a woman – the first in local history.

Terry would not only be the city’s first female mayor but also the first of color.

The filing deadline for the May Primary is February 3rd.
