Snow Largely Missed Evansville

File

Higher amounts fell north and west of the city

Areas north and west of Evansville are digging out from heavy, wet snow. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

If you’re a snow-lover living in Evansville, you may have been frustrated by how close we came to a major snow event.

An inch or two of wet snow fell overnight in the city but by Wednesday morning, rain was washing away that snow while locations as close as Posey and Gibson counties were seeing more snow.

The National Weather Service cancelled its Winter Weather Advisory for Vanderburgh, Warrick, and Spencer counties early.

The snowy conditions were blamed for at least two accidents on I-64 in northern Posey County and one accident on U.S. 41 in Gibson County.

It prompted some area school systems to delay or cancel classes – or conduct a virtual learning day.

The heaviest snow in the region fell in central Indiana.
