Customers will soon be riding on Miller buses after buying tickets on the Megabus platform.
Evansville departures will have routes to 20 cities including Indianapolis, Louisville, Memphis and Nashville. More cities will also come to Evansville. Services in Evansville begin January 25 from the bus station on 119 North Sixth Street.
According to Megabus, fares will vary based on date and time of travel as well as the destination. Evansville to Owensboro for example will range from $17.50-$22.50 and Evansville to Indianapolis can range from about $60 to $70.
Colin Emberson is Vice President of Commerce for Megabus. He said riding the bus is convenient and is competitive when compared to buying gas.
“When you buy your ticket, you're guaranteed a spot on that particular trip," he said. "Once you're on board, there's various amenities, things like WIFI, outlets, things like that to help pass the time.”
Emberson said this partnership brings their services to cities they’ve not reached yet — like Evansville. He hopes to see the Megabus network grow to more locations, “connections to other places that they may or may not be available today, by tapping into all the other services that may give us and our partners provide.”
If the arrangement does well, he said more locations and times could be added.
