Owensboro Police to Deliver Food

File

Operation Santa will deliver food to needy families

Owensboro police officers are playing the role of Santa this week. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The OPD says its 10th annual Operation Santa food drive will provide more than 300 food boxes to citizens.

The department says it teamed up with the Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County to gather food supplies for those regularly served by the Meals on Wheels program.

Operation Santa also assists families identified by Owensboro Public Schools and the Housing Authority of Owensboro.

It’s funded with money raised from the annual “No Shave” fundraiser as well as donations by local businesses and organizations.

Owensboro Police say officers and their families will begin boxing the goodies and making deliveries in their makeshift sleighs - police cruisers—on Wednesday.
