Single-Vehicle Crash Kills Young Evansville Man

File

Jacob Andrew Jochum, 20, died in the crash on Upper Mt. Vernon Road Sunday morning

The victim of a fatal pickup truck crash in western Vanderburgh County has been identified as a young Evansville man. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The coroner’s office says 20-year-old Jacob Andrew Jochum died after the crash on Upper Mount Vernon Road early Sunday.

Chief Deputy Coroner David Anson says Jochum died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The sheriff’s office said the truck driven by Jochum was apparently speeding on Upper Mount Vernon near Boehne Camp Road when it drove off the left side of the road and hit a utility pole and a tree.

Investigators say deputies and the Perry Township firefighters attempted life-saving measures, but Jochum died at the scene.

The sheriff’s office said it didn’t know whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
