The University of Evansville will remember a dark day in its history next week. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
On December 13th, 1977, a plane carrying the UE men’s basketball team, supporters, and crew crashed shortly after takeoff from the Evansville airport.
The crash killed all 29 people onboard.
To commemorate the 45th anniversary and remember the lives lost, UE has planned two services for Tuesday that are open to the public and the campus community.
A noon service will be held at Memorial Plaza on the campus.
An evening service will begin at 7:00 p.m. inside Neu Chapel.
A moment of silence will be observed at 7:22 p.m., the moment the plane crashed 45 years earlier.
The documentary film From the Ashes: The University of Evansville Purple Aces will be streamed Monday evening at evansville.edu/live.
