File

The agency will monitor Ohio River levels and issue forecasts for the city

The National Weather Service is about to begin recording and forecasting river levels in Henderson. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The service for the Ohio River at Henderson will start on Thursday.

The weather service calls it a “direct result of active coordination over the past several years” with Henderson County Emergency Management, the City of Henderson, and Henderson County.

The weather service will provide flooding forecasts upstream of Henderson near Audubon State Park and downstream near Diamond Island.

The flood stage at Henderson will be 36 feet. The moderate flood level will be 43 feet. And major flooding will begin at 44 feet.

Evansville’s flood stage is 42 feet.

The agency also monitors levels and issues forecasts for Newburgh, Mt. Vernon, and other locations along the Ohio River.
