Arts Awards Presented to Artists, Luminaries

It was the first Arts Council ceremony since the pandemic

The 2022 Arts Awards were presented during a ceremony in Evansville over the weekend. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana hosted the event at the Doubletree Hotel Saturday night. It was the event’s first in-person ceremony since the pandemic.

The Visual Arts Award went to local filmmaker Jakob Bilinski, the Performing Arts Award was presented to dance instructor Deena Laska-Lewis, the Arts Educator Award went to McGary Middle School teacher Jane Gilbert, and the Arts Project Award was presented to Corderro Stith for the Tepe Park Mural.

Arts Luminary Awards were presented to the families of the late John D. Engelbrecht and the late John McNaughton.

The Arts Council Award went to Old National Bank for its mural projects.

And the Mayor’s Art Award was presented to two couples: Pat and Lisa Shoulders and Robert and Marianna Wright.
