DG Market Planned for Jacobsville

John Gibson

Larger than a Dollar General, the market will be developed at Forge on Main

A new market is coming to a food desert in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The city of Evansville says Dollar General will open a DG Market as part of the new Forge on Main apartment complex on N. Main St.

DG Market is a larger version of Dollar General Store and offers more food items, including fresh meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen and canned vegetables, dairy products, grains, and other foods.

On Facebook, Mayor Lloyd Winnecke thanked the collaboration of ECHO Housing, House Investments, and Dollar General.

The Jacobsville neighborhood has been without a grocery store since the Buehler’s (BEE-lerz) IGA closed at the end of 2017.

The store building was later demolished for the Forge on Main development.
