Federal crews will work on the Lincoln Memorial Bridge next year

A historic bridge in Vincennes will be closed for about four months, starting in January. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The Indiana Department of Transportation says the Lincoln Memorial Bridge over the Wabash River will close to traffic January 9th.

INDOT says the closure will allow the U.S. National Parks Service to work on the bridge.

Crews will remove large concrete stones from the exterior of the bridge.

The project is expected to last through April 2023, depending on the weather.

The official detour during the closure will be US 41 to US 50.

The bridge connects the George Rogers Clark Memorial in Vincennes and the Lincoln Trail State Memorial in Westport, Illinois.
