Dry conditions and high winds are expected to create a fire hazard in the Tri-State. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:
The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Thursday afternoon and evening.
The agency has also issued a Fire Weather Watch for Friday afternoon and evening.
A Red Flag Warning means critical fire weather conditions are either occurring or will soon.
The weather service urges residents to heed burn bans and use caution when handling anything that could trigger a fire.
Forecasters are predicting wind gusts above 30 miles an hour.
The weather service recorded just .03 of an inch of rain at Evansville Regional Airport Wednesday. Some areas did see a little more.
