The COVID-19 death toll continues to climb in western Kentucky. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Green River District Health Department counted five COVID 19-related deaths in the past week.
Three of the deaths were from Daviess County and the other two were from Ohio County.
The death toll rose even though new infections fell to just 119 during the one-week period. That’s an average of 17 per day in the seven-county district.
But not all infections are reported to county officials due to at-home testing.
The COVID-19 Community Level was classified as low for all seven counties.
The district urges residents to stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, get tested if you have symptoms, and if you have symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 you should wear a mask.
Additional precautions may be needed for people at high risk for severe illness.
