Fire Damages Two Houses, Displaces Four

Steve Burger

Late night blaze spread from one house to another

An intense fire severely damaged two Evansville homes and displaced four people. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Evansville firefighters were dispatched to 411 N 2nd Ave. late last (Mon) night.

Division Chief Mike Larson says responding crews could see smoke from the blaze from several blocks away.

The fire spread to a neighboring house and it took firefighters nearly an hour to extinguish it.

A neighbor told authorities the house where the fire started had been vacant for years, but the neighboring house had been converted to four apartments and the blaze displaced four residents.

The Red Cross was called to help them.

No injuries were reported.

Larson says the cause of the fire is under investigation.
