Crescent Plastics Closing After 73 Years

File

The company blames a drop in domestic demand

An Evansville plastics company is closing its doors after more than 70 years. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Crescent Plastics will shut down in December, affecting about 60 employees.

A news release from the company says production facilities in lower-cost countries – especially Mexico and China – have taken business away from Crescent.

The company said the lack of domestic demand for the products Crescent produces resulted in the decision to discontinue operations.

The plant at Diamond and Kentucky avenues opened in 1949.
