Prices were still much higher than a year ago

Housing prices may be easing in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

An analysis from realtor.com shows the median price for a home in Vanderburgh County was just over $192,000 in August, down from $195,000 in July.

Still, the median price was up about 27% compared to August 2021.

Home prices also fell in Warrick and Gibson counties last month but were up in Posey County.

Nationwide, an August survey by Fannie Mae found respondents expect a nearly 0.5% decline in housing prices compared with the prior month’s expectations.

Consumers also anticipate increases in rental prices will slow.
