Police Stress Safety as Classes Resume

File

It's back-to-school in the EVSC next week

Many students in the Tri-State -- including those in the EVSC -- are headed back to school next week. As WNIN’s John Gibson reports, police are stressing safety:

The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation is welcoming students with last names beginning with A-thru-J Monday and Tuesday, K-thru-Z Wednesday and Thursday, and all students on Friday.

Indiana State Police remind drivers to watch for stopped school buses in the morning and afternoon hours, watch for kids walking to and from school and waiting at bus stops, and be patient behind school buses.

The ISP says police will have zero tolerance for anyone who disregards a bus stop-arm or who speeds in school zones.

Extra police patrols are planned in the zones, where speed limits are reduced.
