Health officials are now recommending masks at indoor public settings

More than 600 new COVID-19 infections and two more COVID-related deaths were recorded in western Kentucky during the past week. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

New cases continued to rise in the Green River District, with 647 tallied between June 27th and July 3rd.

The daily average rose to 92 in the seven-county district with one COVID-related death recorded in Daviess County and another in Ohio County.

The district’s health department says the COVID-19 community levels for Henderson, Daviess, and Webster counties rose from low to medium.

McLean and Ohio counties are at a high COVID Community Level.

Those levels are determined by the number of hospital beds being used, hospital admissions, and the total number of new COVID-19 cases.

The Green River District is now recommending people wear masks at indoor public settings, stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, and high risk residents should consider avoiding non-essential indoor public activities.
