Air quality could be hazardous again on Wednesday

Officials are again warning of potentially unhealthy air in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared an Air Quality Action Day in Southwest Indiana for Wednesday.

It’s the third ozone alert issued this month.

IDEM says kids, older adults, and anyone with respiratory issues should limit physical exertion outdoors.

Everyone is urged to carpool, use public transportation, or work from home if possible to reduce emissions.

If you must drive, you’re asked to avoid excess idling and drive-through windows, combine trips, and avoid fast-starts.

IDEM also says postpone fueling your vehicle or using gasoline-powered lawn and garden equipment until the evening.

You can also save energy by adjusting your home’s thermostat to 75 or above, using blinds and curtains to keep out sunlight, and turning off lights and appliances when not in use.
