Evansville’s Central Library is the new home to landmark piece of local art. WNIN’s Sarah Kuper has more on the mural and its history:
It is called “Evansville – On the Riverfront”. It is a large watercolor painting depicting a slice of life from Evansville’s waterfront history. Painted in 1989 – it shows a moonlit skyline of downtown with boats along the river. It is a historic snapshot of the city especially because several of the buildings in the skyline are since gone.
The artist, Jerry Baum is an Evansville native.
If you have traveled in and out of Evansville by air, you may have seen it before – the mural’s first home was the Evansville Regional Airport.
To learn more about the mural, see it in person at EVPL’s Central Library location on South East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
