Police Investigating After Woman Found Dead in her Yard

File

Coroner: Autopsy showed Betty Steven died of strangulation and blunt force trauma

Evansville Police are investigating a suspicious death. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Officers were dispatched to the 400 block of E Michigan St. on Friday in reference to a deceased person.

EPD Sgt. Anna Gray says police found the victim, 85-year-old Betty Stevens, in the backyard of her home.

When detectives arrived, they found what Gray called “suspicious circumstances.”

The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office scheduled an autopsy and determined Stevens died from strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head.

Gray said a person of interest has been identified and interviewed by detectives but no arrest has been made.

Anyone with more information about Stevens’ death is urged to contact the EPD.
