Officials have broken ground on a new career and technical center in southeast Illinois. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
Southeastern Illinois College celebrated the start of construction of the facility at its Carmi campus.
The college says the new Stanford D. Williams center will offer programs in welding, commercial driver’s license, auto/diesel, and introductory trades education.
The facility will be built in two phases, with completion expected in December 2023.
Officials say state and local funds from the SIC Board of Trustees combined with a $500,000 gift from Stan Williams of Carmi will make the tech center a reality.
