Hundreds lost power on windy Wednesday

High winds knocked down trees and powerlines in the Tri-State on Wednesday. WNIN’s John Gibson has a recap:

The National Weather Service says wind gusts topped 50 miles an hour at times.

The wind brought down trees, including one that blocked St. Joe Avenue at Buchanon Road on Evansville’s West Side.

CenterPoint and other utility providers reported scattered power outages.

Crews were still working to restore power Thursday morning.

The weather service recorded about three-quarters of an inch of rain at Evansville Regional Airport.
