A University of Southern Indiana economics team has come home from a national competition as champions. WNIN’s Sarah Kuper has more on the event and the students’ work:
The competition is called the Econ Games and after the two-day event in Lexington Kentucky, USI’s four-person team was named Overall Champion.
Economics majors Parker Collignon, Jailine McElroy, Cole Stephenson, and Elijah Toavs were given a dataset from a building company and were challenged to interpret it to find the best areas and cities for future developments.
Their thorough and creative approach and final presentation won the top prize and $1,500.
The team prepared for the competition over several months practicing with data cleaning software.
The games were in-person this year so team representatives say it was a “ton of fun” plus an opportunity to network with industry leaders.
