A theatric interpretation of George Orwell’s book 1984, will be presented this weekend by Evansville Civic Theatre. WNIN’s Sarah Kuper has more on the performance:
The iconic book relates the story of a government employee charged with rewriting history to paint his country in a sterling light. His struggle becomes whether to break free of the government’s suppression of the truth or remain a dutiful employee.
Audience members may find the subject of the play familiar, not just because of the well-known book but also because of current examples of government censorship in Russia.
The play is presented by Evansville Civic Theatre under the direction of managing artistic director Kevin Roach. It will run for the next two weekends with shows Friday and Saturday at 7:30pm and Sundays at 2pm.
Tickets are $10 and available at evvcivic.org.
