Fire Chases 2 from Evansville Home

File

The blaze caused major damage and displaced occupants

Two people escaped a burning house in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

Evansville firefighters were dispatched to 513 E. Gum St. late Friday night.

The house is just three blocks from Fire Station One so the first crews arrived quickly.

Division Chief Mike Larson says crews reported smoke visible from the attic area and when they entered the home, they found heavy fire in the center of the house.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze but not before the fire caused what Larson called “major damage.”

Two occupants escaped the fire uninjured and the Red Cross was notified to help them.

CenterPoint Energy was contacted to disconnect the utilities due to the damage.

Larson said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
