Jehovah's Witnesses Resuming Public Events But Not Evansville Convention

Ford Center

The convention will remain online this year

Jehovah’s Witnesses say they’re returning to public events, but there’s no plan yet to resume the annual convention in Evansville. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

The religious group has announced two public events next month, a special talk called Where Can You Find Real Hope? on April 10th and the Memorial of Christ Death on Good Friday, April 15th.

Jehovah’s Witnesses spokesman Chris Kimball says the annual convention has been online the past two years, and the 2022 summer convention will again stream online.

Kimball said Evansville has been an excellent host for the convention and calls the event a “highlight” for congregants.

He said Jehovah’s Witnesses are taking steps to resume many of their activities but he doesn‘t know yet if the convention will return in 2023.

The event over two weekends at the Ford Center typically draws 30,000 people and pumps nearly $3 million into the local economy.

It has not been held in Evansville the past two years due to the pandemic.
