Native Asian animal is endangered species

Mesker Park Zoo is welcoming a new addition to its family of animals. WNIN’s John Gibson has the story:

The Zoo and Botanic Garden has welcomed a baby binturong – sometimes called a bearcat.

On its Facebook page, Mesker introduced the binturong named Garrett.

The zoo said the little guy is doing well with his momma behind the scenes.

The young binturong is not yet on exhibit but Mesker says “he'll be stealing hearts soon enough.”

The binturong is an endangered species native to South and Southeast Asia.
