Wesselman Woods Expanding Playscape

File

Planning more trails, play area, and bird sanctuary

Wesselman Woods is expanding a space where kids learn and play. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

Wesselman Woods is adding two acres to the Welborn Baptist Foundation Nature Playscape, for new trails, nature play areas, and a bird sanctuary.

Woods spokeswoman Kristina Arwood says the new construction will use felled trees from across Evansville.

Arwood says tree service companies are donating the wood. None of it is from Wesselman Woods property.

Other additions to the Nature Playscape will include a red bud tree tunnel, converting a former creek bed to a dry creek bed ecosystem, and other nature-based play features.

The work is expected to be completed in May.
