Vanderburgh County’s COVID-19 death toll has reached 600. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:
The Indiana Department of Health tallied the county’s 600th fatality as the nation approaches the second anniversary of the pandemic.
The also agency also counted Warrick County’s 230th death of the pandemic on the Friday dashboard.
New infections continued to decline with just eight in Vanderburgh, two in Warrick, one in Posey, and one in Gibson County.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients across the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell to 60. That number was near 300 in late January, when the omicron variant was raging.
Statewide, Indiana recorded 37 more deaths and more than 300 new infections on the Friday dashboard.
