Public meetings are set to discuss planned improvements to Evansville’s Lloyd Expressway. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Lloyd4U group has scheduled both an in-person and a virtual meeting for later this month.
Project spokeswoman Mindy Peterson says preliminary plans for the $100 million dollar investment include “displaced” left turn lanes:
"They're making that movement away from the main intersection, and so you have...more green time at lights and more traffic flowing, and you don't have that opposing traffic that can sometimes be a challenge at those big intersections."
Peterson says no new interchanges are planned for the Lloyd:
"Not only are interchanges very, very costly but they also take a tremendous amount of space. The footprint for an interchange is a very large footprint."
Peterson says the in-person meeting is set for Tuesday evening, March 29th, at the City View facility on Fulton Ave. just north of the Lloyd. The online meeting is set for two days later:
"We'll take that feedback, we'll react to that feedback, we'll continue to fine-tune the designs, we'll do some more traffic analysis, we'll actually get back with the public this summer."
Preliminary plans call for closing what are considered four “minor access points” along the Lloyd.
