Guntry Club will offer a coffee bar, a fitness gym, and massage services.

A new type of membership club is coming to Evansville. WNIN's Sarah Kuper has more on the tactical training and recreation facility:

Late this summer, what is currently Sunset Plaza on Highway 41 will become home to the LawMan Tactical Guntry Club. Amenities of the all-inclusive, members-only club will include an indoor gun range, a coffee bar, a dojo, a fitness gym, massage services, retail shops and an exclusive bourbon and cigar bar.

“One location where people can come together and celebrate core values – God, country, faith courage. Like a community center where people can conversate around a fire pit with live music and moms can learn how to protect their children in the grocery store. What makes us different is all instructors are full time police officers with years of experiences what we see on the streets as well as all of our training.”

Bryan Bishop is a police officer. The new club is an expansion of the retail shop and training service he and his wife already own. The idea for the Guntry Club came from a trend they saw running that business:

“Since we have been in business we have seen requests over the last few years for training for not only law enforcement but for civilians. I think with the current climate of the world with increase in violence across the country and our own community give them tools to protect community and their families.”

The new development has the support of a a who’s who of local law and order:

“Sheriff Dave Wedding, Chief Billy Bolin, Nick Hermann prosecutor, Ben Shoulders commissioners…”

The 25,000 square foot facility is expected to open summer of 2022 but Bishop says memberships are available now.
