Thunderstorms with high winds and frequent lightning dumped heavy rain and caused power outages in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson has a recap:
As of mid-morning Monday, Center Point reported the number of outages had dropped below 100 in Evansville.
Nearly 80 customers were still without electricity in the Huntingburg area.
The outages darkened a stretch of the Lloyd Expressway near Highway 41 during the early morning.
The National Weather Service measured more than two inches of rain at Evansville Regional Airport.
Tornado and thunderstorm watches expired early Monday.
The storms ushered in much cooler air.
Forecasters are predicting cooler conditions all this week with a high of just 35 expected on Saturday.
