File

Positivity rates are also falling

Two more COVID-19 related deaths are reported in southwest Indiana, as new infections and hospitalizations decline. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Indiana Department of Health added one fatality in Vanderburgh County and one in Gibson County on the Thursday dashboard.

Vanderburgh’s pandemic death toll reached 537, Gibson climbed to 135.

The agency added just 19 infections in Vanderburgh, eight in Warrick, two in Gibson, and just 1 in Posey County.

The seven-day positivity rate also continued to fall, down to eight percent in Vanderburgh County.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell to 79. That number was close to 300 in late January.

Across Indiana, the agency recorded 34 new fatalities and less than 500 new infections, as the omicron variant continued to fade.

The statewide positivity rate was down to just over five percent.
