Ice Headed Our Way Wednesday Night, Thursday Morning

File

The NWS is predicting sleet and freezing rain

Forecasters are predicting freezing rain and sleet in the Evansville area. WNIN’s John Gibson reports:

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory that will be in effect until 6 PM Thursday.

Forecasters are predicting “mixed precipitation” with sleet accumulations up to a half inch and ice accumulations up to two tenths of an inch.

The weather service says most of the freezing rain and sleet will accumulate Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

Temperatures should rise above freezing on Thursday and change the frozen precipitation to all rain.

Until that happens, forecasters are warning of potentially hazardous driving conditions.
