More Than an Inch of Rain Falls in Evansville; Wintry Mix Possible Wednesday Night

File

Timing and temperatures will determine who sees icy weather

The Evansville area has seen heavy rain. Could ice be next? WNIN’s John Gibson takes a look:

A Flood Watch has been lifted, after more than an inch of rain was recorded at Evansville Regional Airport Tuesday morning.

But National Weather Service meteorologist Christine Wieglos says forecasters are watching for more rain and an icy mix moving into the area Wednesday night:

"The greatest chances for wintry precipitation including freezing rain and sleet is going to be across southeast Missouri and southern Illinois and possibly into southwest Indiana. Again, the impacts of that are not as well solidified at this moment and again the threat for flooding will continue across west Kentucky as the precipitation will be mainly rain in that area."

Evansville’s forecast for Wednesday night through Thursday night includes chances for rain, freezing rain, sleet, and snow.

Wieglos says timing and temperature will determine whether the Evansville area sees icy weather.
