The Henderson County school district has joined a growing list of schools dropping mask mandates. WNIN’s John Gibson has more:
Masks have become optional for students and staff in Henderson County Schools, starting Friday.
On its Facebook page, the district said it made the decision based on current hospital capacity, the community’s COVID-19 incident rate, positive cases among students and staff, quarantines, vaccine data, and a staff survey.
Masks will still be required on school buses per federal mandate.
The Henderson County school district says it will continue to monitor school and community COVID numbers.
Officials said the highest priorities are keeping everyone safe and maintaining in-person learning.
