Vanderburgh County’s pandemic death toll has jumped by eight. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
The Indiana Department of Health announced eight more COVID-19 related fatalities in the county, raising the local death toll to 572.
The agency also recorded a COVID-related death in Gibson County on the Wednesday dashboard.
The number of new infections continued to decrease overall, with 69 new cases in Vanderburgh, 22 in Warrick, 15 in Gibson, and 12 in Posey County.
All southwest Indiana counties remained in the red advisory category, while some counties in central and northern Indiana improved to orange or yellow.
The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana fell slightly to 182, with almost a quarter of intensive care beds available.
Across Indiana, the agency counted 125 new fatalities and more than 1,400 new cases.
