Evansville Police rescued two elderly residents from a burning house. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:
It happened at about 1:30 Friday morning at 515 S. Grand Ave.
The Evansville Fire Department says police responded to a burglar alarm at the home and when officers arrived, they found flames coming from the roof.
EFD Division Chief Mike Larson says the officers entered the home and removed two elderly occupants.
One occupant was transported to St. Vincent’s Hospital for a non-fire, non-life-threatening injury.
Larson said when firefighters arrived, they traced the fire to an attic space above a bathroom.
Crews extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes and electric service had to be disconnected.
The occupants were displaced and the Red Cross was notified.
The investigator classified it as an accidental electrical fire.
There was no word of any firefighter injuries.
