Western KY COVID Death Toll Jumps by 9; More than 1,400 New Infections

9 deaths were tallied in 3 days

Nine more COVID 19-releated deaths and more than 1,400 new infections have been tallied in western Kentucky. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The first few days of February were deadly in the region.

The Green River Health Department announced four more fatalities in Daviess County, three more in Henderson County, and two more in Ohio County.

The agency also added 1,437 COVID infections between Tuesday and Thursday in the seven-county district.

Daviess County’s pandemic death toll topped 350 while Henderson’s reached 147.

In a release, District Public Health Director Clay Horton continued to urge residents to get vaccinated and boosted against the virus.

The vaccination rate in Daviess County is above 58 percent, Henderson tops 57 percent, but Ohio County’s rate is less than 44 percent.
