Seven More COVID-Related Deaths, 1000+ Infections in SW Indiana


Five of the seven fatalities were in Vanderburgh

COVID-19 has claimed five more lives in Vanderburgh County. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:

The Indiana Department of Health recorded the five fatalities, making it one of the county’s deadliest days of the pandemic.

Vanderburgh’s death toll climbed to 528.

The agency also recorded one new death in Warrick County and another in Gibson County on the Thursday dashboard.

The infection surge continued with nearly 800 cases added in Vanderburgh County, nearly 300 in Warrick County, 169 in Gibson County, and 92 in Posey County.

All four counties reported positivity rates above 33 percent.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients in the 12-county region of southwest Indiana rose slightly to 247, with about 20 percent of intensive care beds available.

Across Indiana, the agency counted 137 more COVID deaths and more than 16,500 new infections.
