Snow amounts varied from south to north

Thursday’s snowfall in the Tri-State ranged from very little to as much as six inches. WNIN’s John Gibson has a recap:

The immediate Evansville area saw 1-to-2 inches of snow, while areas north and west of Evansville received less.

Western Kentucky received the brunt of the snowfall.

The National Weather Service reported 2-to-3 inches in the Henderson area, 3-to-4 inches around Owensboro, and 4-to-6 inches in Madisonville.

The snowfall quickly made roadways treacherous and led to numerous accidents in southwest Indiana and western Kentucky.

Transportation crews battled the snow and bitter cold temperatures, making main roads passable. But many secondary roads and side streets were still snow-covered and slippery Friday morning.
