File

Surge continues in Green River District

Seven more COVID-19 related deaths and more than 1,000 new infections are reported in western Kentucky. WNIN’s John Gibson has the latest:

The Green River District Health Department announced three more fatalities in Daviess County, one in Henderson County, one in Union County, one in Webster County, and one in McLean County.

The department also recorded 1,046 new infections in the seven-county district during a three-day period -- Tuesday through Thursday.

The agency also said its seven-day infection average climbed to about 267 a day, as the post-holiday surge continued.

Daviess County’s pandemic death toll reached 321 and Henderson’s climbed to 138.

District Public Health Director Clay Horton again reminded residents that the best way to protect yourself and those you love is to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and wear a mask when in public or around people you don’t live with.
