Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra Launches Young Artist Competition

File

Talented young musicians from southwestern Indiana will converge on downtown Evansville to compete for recognition and opportunities. WNIN’s Sarah Kuper has details on the event and how the public can be part of it:

According to officials from the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, the annual Young Artist Competition could be the public’s opportunity to hear the next Yo-Yo Ma or Itshak Perlman before he or she makes it big.

On January 30th at 2 pm, middle and high school instrumentalists from southwest Indiana have the chance to win cash and performance opportunities with the Evansville Philharmonic’s Youth Orchestra. Musicians will perform a solo on stage at the Victory Theatre and will be evaluated by professional regional musicians.

The competition’s goal is to promote and nurture exceptional young talent and it is funded by the Musicians Club of Evansville Margaret B and Leo E Hem Memorial Scholarship Fund.

The event is free and open to the public.
