Nearly 1,000 more Vanderburgh County residents have gotten a booster shot against COVID-19. WNIN’s John Gibson has the update:
The Indiana Department of Health counted 990 more booster shots on the Monday dashboard, raising the county’s total to nearly 38,600.
The agency also recorded 220 more residents joining the ranks of fully vaccinated. That local total has topped 98,300.
Health experts are urging eligible people to get vaccines and boosters to protect against the highly transmissible omicron variant.
Dr. Scott Steinecker is an epidemiologist with the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America.
He told Indiana Public Broadcasting that those who have been vaccinated – and especially boosted – are “really pretty darn well protected.”
