Christmas Tree Pickup Underway; Recycling Option Jan. 8

Some Evansville residents can put trees out with trash

Evansville residents can dispose of Christmas trees this week and next. WNIN’s John Gibson has details:

With Christmas behind us, the Evansville Water and Sewer Utility is offering the annual Christmas tree disposal service.

In a release, the utility says simply place your Christmas tree next to your trash cart at the curb on the day of your scheduled trash collection and Republic Services will take it to the landfill.

Only utility customers who pay for trash and recycling with their monthly water and sewer bill are eligible for the Christmas tree service.

It’s not available to residents who live in apartment complexes, mobile home communities, outside the city limits, or for retail, commercial and business customers.

There is a recycling option. The Vanderburgh County Solid Waste District will hold its annual Holiday Recycling event on Saturday, January 8, at the Old Walmart West shopping center from 8 a.m. until noon.

Randy’s Tree Service will grind the trees at no cost.

The event will also accept holiday cards, cardboard boxes, and other recyclables.
