Officials Give Guidance for Tornado Clean-up

FEMA representatives are instructing those sorting through piles of debris that there are specific ways to categorize the mess for safe and efficient removal.

Debris can be placed on the curb but must be sorted into the following categories:

*Electronics like tvs and computers
*Hazardous waste like batteries, oil, cleaning chemicals and paint
*Construction debris – lumber, roof shingles
*Household garbage
*Large appliances like refrigerators and washing machines
*Trees, branches, bushes and leaves

Officials ask residents to be careful of downed power lines and to keep roadways and areas near fire hydrants and meters clear.
