Vanderburgh County is seeing increases in residents protecting themselves from the virus.

Hundreds more Vanderburgh County residents have rolled up their sleeves for COVID-19 vaccinations and booster shots.

The Indiana Department of Health tallied 432 new vaccinations against the coronavirus in the county.

The agency also counted nearly 1,200 more booster shots on the Monday dashboard.

The number of fully vaccinated local residents is approaching 97,500. The county’s total population is about 182,000.

The number of Vanderburgh County residents that have been boosted tops 33,000.

Health experts say the delta variant remains the dominant factor in COVID infections.

Experts also say evidence is mounting that vaccinations and boosters protect against the newer omicron variant.
